Swill bench

£1,820.00

The swill bench offers a clean silhouette with rich texture and hand-crafted warmth. Created in collaboration with swiller, Lorna Singleton, this piece uses the traditional art of swilling to weave the bench seat around a solid English ash frame. Swilling is the highly skilful and traditional practice of soaking and then splitting oak along its grain, making it an incredibly strong but lightweight material when woven together. The weaving takes place when the material is wet and the panels tighten onto the framework as they dry.

  • This price excludes delivery or overseas crating where necessary. Delivery will be listed at checkout as £0.00 and a price calculated once your order has been received, based on the delivery address and the level of service you require. A white glove service and overseas shipping and crating is available if required.

  • Everything that leaves our workshop does so with a 10 year guarantee. The finishes we use provide good resistance to spillages wiped away relatively quickly with a damp cloth. We recommend a spray cleaner by Osmo when a damp cloth doesn’t suffice and an annual liquid wax cleaner to keep the wood finish up to strength.

We offer a refinishing service, subject to quotation. Remedial work can be carried out on site or in our workshops depending on the work required and the location and size of the item in need of refinishing.
