Summer

We manage our own plot of ancient woodland, Broome Wood, for materials and biodiversity. It is a living, breathing and thriving example of how we believe wooded land should be used.

In summer the woodland is almost impenetrable. The understory beneath maiden trees and the ground cover in open coppice grows densely.

The ancient stools from which we harvested our hazel look wild and lush with an abundance of young growth. The new hazel stems will grow into straight, strong rods ready to be harvested within 8-12 years.
