Spring

We manage our own plot of ancient woodland, Broome Wood, for materials and biodiversity. It is a living, breathing and thriving example of how we believe wooded land should be used.

Spring sees new life rushing forth from the soil. Wild flowers break free of their winter dormancy and reach vigorously for the light of longer days. Trees bud and leaves unfurl.

The ancient hazel stools from which we harvested our hazel are already eagerly throwing up lithe, vibrant red shoots of new growth. These fine, whippy stems will grow into straight, strong rods of hazel ready to be harvested within 8-12 years.
