The Blushing Bar takes centre stage at Wallpaper* Handmade

Sebastian Cox create the Blushing Bar, the centrepiece of the Wallpaper* Handmade exhibition, in collaboration with Chan and Eayrs for Salone del Mobile. Our studio and workshop have been working closely with architects Chan and Eayrs (Zoe Chan Eayrs and Merlin Eayrs) to create a bar made of dyed American red oak.

The theme of this year’s annual exhibition is Love / X / ten to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Wallpaper*. Chan and Eayrs designed the bar, made of ten elements, each one representing an element of a cocktail drink. We have been experimenting with the porous veins of American red oak, infusing them with red dye like “blood filled veins through love struck flesh”, creating dramatic pink marbling through the depth of the wood. Together we have created The Blushing Bar.

To see the bar alongside the rest of the exhibition, visit Salone del Tessuti via San Gregorio 29, Milan from 9 - 13 April.
