Skilfully and thoughtfully, we transform your raw material into beautiful pieces of furniture. We’re expert in working wood at each stage of the process; quite literally working from tree to table.

 

How it works

 

  • A day of milling costs £1,200. This includes Sebastian and an additional sawyer, the use of our band or sawmills and 3 x blades or chains.

    In some cases there may be additional costs for milage, overnight stays, supporting labour if needed or any work we might do to process some of your tree for firewood.

  • As we mill your tree we’ll stack the boards ‘in stick’ ready to dry. The tree can then air dry over the course of approximately 18 months on our premises or yours. Alternatively it can be kiln dried in a matter of weeks.

    The associated costs can be established at the point of enquiry.

  • Making furniture using your own tree means we won’t need to buy wood, offering a cost saving on the finished piece. We can design your commission while the wood dries. Assume that the making process will take up to 12 weeks.

 

Yield

 

With some basic information and a photograph or two of your tree it’s possible to estimate the quantity of wood your tree will yield. These indicative scenarios assume two of our sawyers have good access to your tree in order to realise its potential, cutting it into boards 1 inch thick.

Tell us about your tree and the furniture you hope it will become. The most helpful information is the diameter and length of the longest, straightest section of the tree; the species; its location (i.e. your address); and finally whether we can drive a trailer alongside the tree, or only access it by foot.
