Along the Lines of Happiness in Milan

Following the creation of The Invisible Store of Happiness for Clerkenwell Design Week last year, the Sebastian Cox studio and Laura Ellen Bacon have been invited to Milan to make a new and bigger section of this brave installation for an international design crowd.

In their second collaboration, sculptor Laura Ellen Bacon, and Sebastian will undertake a live experiment in making at the Salone del Mobile. Together they will open up the Invisible Store of Happiness, as well as their own working practices, to live steam and weave American red oak and maple from a custom-built workbench.

This project highlights two hugely abundant and renewable American hardwoods which are desperately underutilised and through the process of making, demonstrates their beauty and versatility.
