Landrace

Using landrace strains of wheat, Sebastian has made a series of objects that reflect a more harmonious relationship between the domesticated and non-domesticated worlds; layered, diverse and wild. This collection of thatched bread baskets are made using heritage wheat as a comment on the chemically grown, systematically selected wheat more commonly grown by industrial British farmers leaving our countryside bereft of wildlife. Landrace facilitates breaking bread and a chance to sit around the table and talk about our fields. Created in collaboration with Sarah Myerscough, these pieces were originally presented at CROP, a show by Sarah Myerscough Gallery in 2019.
