THE BURBERRY BALLOON

Inspired by the real-life achievements of Air Commodore Edward Maitland, who flew his balloon 1,117 miles from London to Russia dressed in Burberry gabardine suiting, the Sebastian Cox studio and workshop designed and made a life-size balloon basket and bespoke furniture using English oak and ash, for Burberry's pop-up store in London Heathrow. Imagining the items Maitland would have taken on his journey we created our own travelling chests, hampers, crates and trolleys, all woven with an entirely bespoke diagonal weave.
