Join us in the Sebastian Cox workshop and learn to make your own wooden box to take home, using British wood and traditional hand tools.
This day class is perfect for anyone interested in making something beautiful, simple and functional, with no previous woodworking experience necessary.
As well as sharing an introduction to timber technology, Sebastian will teach you how to:
- Lay out dovetails using a marking knife and square
- Cut to a line with a dovetail saw
- Pare with a chisel
- Use a block plane
- Cut rebates with a router
- Sand and finish your box before taking it home
You will need:
Comfortable clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting a bit dusty. It’s sensible to tie hair back and avoid dangly jewellery or accessories. Patience and enthusiasm. Sweeping and tea making skills are desirable but not essential.
We will provide:
All the necessary tools and safety equipment. British wood to make your box with (pre-machined by us and ready to use). Good music on the radio and lunch. It's worth mentioning too that there is plenty of free parking onsite.
